SUBRATA GANGOPADHYAY
He was born in 1959 in Calcutta and graduated from Government College of Art & Crafts in 1980 with a first-class Diploma
in Paintings (Life-Nature and Murals). Widely known as one of India's leading painters in the modern realistic tradition, his
artistic vision is informed by a vivid array of swirling colors and a sense of rhythmic movement. Gangopadhyay's realistic
portraiture of women is energized with impressionistic details. Burst of color signifies the celebration of life and expression of
rasa or emotion.
