NANDALAL BOSE
He was born in 1882 and died in 1966 and was a noted Indian painter of Bengal school of art. A foremost pupil of
Abanindranath Tagore, a pioneer of the school, he started with "Indian style" of painting, before blazing off an alternative
style at the Kala Bhawan, Shanti Niketan, eventually becoming its principal in 1922. He was influenced by the Tagore family
and the murals of Ajanta, his classic works include paintings of scenes from Indian mythologies, women, and village life.
Today, his paintings are considered among India's best modern paintings by many critics.
