Chaitali Morajkar

Chaitali Morajkar has studied Painting at the SNDT University, Pune (BA in Art and Painting - 1999) and at the Sarojini Naidu School of Fine Arts, Central University Hyderabad (MFA - 2001).
Gifted with a 'folkloric' imagination, her work has the magical and the chimerical. On the other hand, the young girls in her canvas wear jeans which Chaitali crafts carefully stitch by stitch. Jeans in a way are symbolic of our age, perhaps an answer to Campbell Soup cans, unconsciously blending the mythological with Pop with equal ease.
