CHAKAPHAN RATTANCHAN

The paintings displayed here are a part of the "He Is the Most Beautiful Lady II" Exhibition by Thai artist Chakaphan Rattanachan. This exhibition is a gathering of more than 40 paintings from the past 5 years from 2002 – 2006, allowing us to see the progressive evolution of his work from the very initial stages to the present, which positively display Traditional Thai Art to that of breaking loose into increasingly westernized and international styles respectively. The artist has expressed interest and studied the stories of transvestite, cabaret dancers from Alcaza, Freeman and Calypso. The observation of emotions, the environment and life stories in front and behind the stage has translated into paintings that employ pastel and oil color techniques, displaying outstanding, individualistic qualities with the application of flashy, bright colors accompanied by a great ensemble of actions and gestures.
