BIJON CHOWDHURY
Bijon Chowdhury was born in the year 1931. He studied at the Government College
of Arts, Kolkata but graduated from the Government College Institute of Arts in
Dhaka, Bangladesh. He has exhibited widely in India and abroad. Bijon Chowdhury
has won many awards, which includes the award from the Academy of Fine Arts in
1963 and the Rabindra Bharati Award in 1978. A politically aware painter, like
many of his time, he felt that abstractions in art are caused by frustrations
resulting from a capitalist atmosphere.
