Badri Narayan

Badri Narayan works mostly in watercolour. His paintings are rooted in Indian culture and mythology. The folk idiom forms the basis of his near illustrational paintings with a generous nod to various other sources, including Ajanta paintings and Byzantine formalism. They are suffused with RASA or emotion, the apparent serenity of the work being subtly underscored by tell-tale symbols and signs. His allegories bridge the gap between the ancient and the modern with effortless ease. Badri Narayan lives and works in Mumbai.
