Yusuf Arakkal

Yusuf Arakkal's early works were abstract, following the fashion of the day, but he soon moved towards figuration, being inspired mostly by the people around him. He has done a series on pavement dwellers, paraplegics, street urchins and the downtrodden and the less fortunate sections of society. His palette is usually high key with intense chiaroscuro. Yusuf Arakkal is a versatile artist, exploring many mediums including printmaking and sculpture in addition to painting. Lately, he painted a series of canvases, when he was inspired by computer generated images. He lives and works in Bangalore.
