Abir Karmakar

Born in 1977 in Siliguri, India, Abir Karmakar studied Painting at the Rabindra Bharati University in Kolkata (B.V.A.), and at the Faculty of Fine Arts, M. S. University in Baroda (M.A.).The artist lives in Baroda.
Karmakar is known for his casual and voyeuristic self-portraits. His body language and the mysterious eye contact he makes with viewers are provocative, offering them his interpretation of sexuality and the fluid nature of identity in contemporary contexts.
