Huguette Machado Rico
Huguette Machado Rico was born in 1942 in Algeria. She has been
painting and drawing since her childhood Art studies in Paris. In
1962, she studied at the Beaux Arts in Aix en Provence and holds a
degree in commercial art and illustration. After several years in
advertising design, she devoted herself to painting. She has had
many exhibitions in France, abroad, in galleries and museums. Her
work falls within the family of primitive contemporaries, recognized
in Art history as: "Singular". Her paintings, pastings, sculptures are an
explosion of colours and sensitivity related to brittleness and beauty
of existence." I do aim at feisty pictures, I want them to make us look
at strange and wonderful things" In this thoroughly sunny, vegetal
universe made of dreams, every figure has been thought from the
promise of happiness which it is making up. Sometimes Hands are
full of Hearts, Eyes are often turning into flowers. "To be aware of
one's own weakness, to carry on however wishing to sing the
blessing of life"could be a definition for Machado's work.
