Laxma Goud
Laxma Goud began printing in black and white adding colour only after 15-20 years. His iconography is earthy, sensuous, erotic and demonic at the same time. He is influenced by his roots in rural India, with its frank and open attitude towards sex and eroticism unhindered by the guise of hypocritical Symbolism. His animals and humans copulate unrestrainedly and openly in the village landscape of trees and bushes. The element of fantasy comes in the surreal imagery of hybrid animals and sexual genitalia pierced with ornaments and objects like safety pins staples. Through all this imagery it is his delicate use of line that stands out, adding tones out of crisp patterns. He lives and works in Hyderabad.
